SSSG actively communicates with de facto Tskhinvali Prosecutor's Office on Georgian citizen Tamar Mearakishvili's detention case
The State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) announced that, through the hotline, the fact of unlawful detention of Tamar Mearakishvili, a Georgian citizen permanently residing in the occupied territory, has been confirmed.
According to the SSSG, it actively communicates with the de facto Tskhinvali Prosecutor’s Office over the issue.
The press service of the de facto Tskhinvali Prosecutor’s Office reported that a Georgian citizen had been detained in the occupied Tskhinvali region on spying charges. A criminal case against the detained Georgian citizen Tamar Mearakishvili has been initiated under Article 276 of the Russian Criminal Code. The charge of espionage envisages a sentence of 10 to 20 years in prison.
