Special Investigation Service launches investigation into attack on TV Pirveli filming crew

The Special Investigation Service has launched an investigation into the attack on the TV Pirveli filming crew.

The investigation is opened under Article 154 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.

“All necessary investigative and procedural actions are carried out in order to identify and arrest the persons exposed in the crime,” the Service said in its statement.

The firming crew of TV Pirveli was attacked by unidentified, masked individuals at #4 Besiki Street on the territory of State Conservatoire.
One of the individuals attempted to take off the video camera from video reporter Giorgi Shetsiruli when reporter Maka Chikhladze was attacked from behind and pushed to the ground.

Another filming crew arrived at the scene. The attack left Maka Chikhladze and Giorgi Shetsiruli with various injuries in the face and head areas. They were transported to Ingorokva Clinic.
