Special Investigation Service interrogates GPB First Channel photojournalist

The Special Investigation Service is currently interrogating Mirian Meladze, a photojournalist for GPB First Channel, who sustained injuries while fulfilling his professional duties during the protests on Rustaveli Avenue on November 30.

“I was contacted by the Special Investigation Service last evening regarding the incident reported by the Media Ombudsman. I believe they have questions about additional details, and I intend to answer them. I do not recall where or under what circumstances I was injured in my leg by an unidentified object, but I hope that this will be clarified in due time. The incident occurred early morning of November 30, the second day of public protests. I was standing near the Marriott Hotel and intended to move toward the Kashueti Church,” Meladze stated.

The Special Investigation Service is looking into cases involving the obstruction of media professionals and assaults on journalists.
