Speaker: Unnecessary fuss by neutral Swiss Embassy proves we live in politically perplexing times
“Following Britain’s departure from the European Union, Switzerland, a nation that has never joined the EU, is now becoming increasingly animated about European integration. It’s high time everyone took a moment to explore their own constitutions,” Shalva Papuashvili, Chair of the Parliament of Georgia, said in a social media post.
Papuashvili responded to a banner shared on the Facebook page of the Swiss Embassy in Georgia.
“When even the neutral Swiss embassy is raising unnecessary concerns, it’s a clear sign that we are living in geopolitically perplexing times,” he commented.
The Swiss Embassy in Georgia displayed a banner stating: “The constitutional bodies shall take all measures within the scope of their competences to ensure full integration of Georgia into the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. Georgian Constitution, Article 78.”
