Speaker: Those behind violent attempts to change government to face people's justice on October 5
“Those who organise a violent attempt to change the government will receive a fitting response from the Georgian people on October 5,” Shalva Papuashvili, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, declared in response to the recent statements by opposition representatives claiming they are pursuing a “peaceful revolution”.
According to Papuashvili, any attempt to alter the government through violence will be met with legal accountability.
“It has been openly stated that they seek to change the government by force. All of this is being directed from abroad. We observe meetings, visits; they have even announced plans to travel abroad in the coming days. This is yet another escalation.
Typically, escalations occur in spring, but in our context, they tend to happen in the autumn, before elections, and this is one such instance. The outcome of all this will be on October 5. That day, the individuals organising a violent regime change will receive a proper response from the Georgian people. Anyone attempting to overthrow the government by force will be held accountable under the law,” said Papuashvili.
