Speaker says Georgian government enjoys full support from Malta

“Speaker of the Maltese Parliament underscored that the Georgian people should shape their political agenda. We have full support from Malta,” said Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili following the meeting with Angelo Farrugia, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malta.

According to the Speaker, Georgia is the number one country with an economic growth pace on the Continent.

“I had a very frank meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malta. We reviewed the security situation and economics in Europe. Malta demonstrates fruitful economic development results. We spoke about Georgia’s economic progress. We are the leading country on the Continent with an economic growth pace, and this is the government’s top priority.

We discussed Georgia-EU relations. The Speaker of the Maltese parliament underscored the respect for Georgia’s sovereignty, saying the Georgian people should shape their political agenda and thus, we enjoy full support from the government of Malta. I am happy that we keep good relations between the parliaments. Also, my personal relations with the Speaker of the Maltese Parliament are friendly, and based on mutual respect. In this regard, Malta has a special attitude towards Georgia,” he said.
