Speaker Papuashvili: What sort of Europe to discuss when EPP supports extremism and domestic terrorism?

“It is an absolute scandal; what kind of Europe can we speak of when the European People’s Party (EPP), which unites the ruling parties of several nations, endorses extremism and domestic terrorism? Their stated aim is to seize power through violence, and they openly support this,” said Shalva Papuashvili, the Chairman of the Georgian Parliament, to journalists.

According to Papuashvili, “whoever supports extremism reaps terrorism in their own country.”

“This group is already openly proclaiming itself as an extremist organisation, aiming to attain power by force. That is why I have stated that I will be monitoring the approaches of foreign actors towards these groups very closely. To date, the United National Movement remains a member of the European People’s Party, which has expressed support for Khabeishvili.

Those who support extremism will ultimately face terrorism in their own country. As you mentioned with the example of Macron, eventually, an individual or a nation will experience the consequences of their actions elsewhere. When overthrow and extremism are backed by representatives of European governments, such as the European People’s Party, they will ultimately have to face the repercussions themselves. If they allow this ‘genie’ to be let out elsewhere, they will receive the same in their own land. The principle is simple: when you treat others unjustly, you will inevitably face the same treatment at home,” said Shalva Papuashvili.
