Speaker Papuashvili: Pawel Herczyński said he forwarded my letter to Brussels; I hope they read it carefully and draw conclusions

“Pawel Herczyński has said that he forwarded my letter to Brussels. I hope that in Brussels they are reading that letter with due care and attention, and I hope they will draw the appropriate conclusions from it,” Shalva Papuashvili, Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, told journalists.

He further remarked that today the European Union, through its own policies, above all else, is causing harm to itself, quite apart from the harm it inflicts on others.

“Incidentally, yesterday there was an article from one research organisation which rightly underscored these very issues, that conclusions must be drawn. Regrettably, the foreign policy the EU is currently pursuing, embodied by Kaja Kallas, is evident to all of us. There is discontent and criticism of her, even from within the EU itself; the U.S. Secretary of State does not even receive her. Regrettably, today, Kaja Kallas is the face of EU foreign policy. As Prime Minister of Estonia, when her minister was attending a protest rally here, she pursued a foreign policy of precisely the same philosophy, and that is the foreign policy the EU has today: one which, quite apart from the harm it does to others, harms itself above all, and we are witnessing that harm unfold before our eyes,” declared Shalva Papuashvili.

For context, on May 8, Shalva Papuashvili addressed an open letter to the EU Ambassador to Georgia, Pawel Herczyński.
