Speaker Papuashvili: Our greatest strength lies not in arms alone, but in wisdom to foresee threats and secure safety of every citizen
“Today, we mark Georgia’s Defence Forces Day, a day that symbolically unites our historical memory, our sense of national dignity, and our responsibility towards the future. This day is an act of honour towards those who defend our country’s freedom, independence, and sovereignty at the cost of their own lives,” declared Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili in his address at the ceremonial event marking Georgia’s Defence Forces Day.
As the Speaker noted, Georgia’s history is replete with examples of heroism.
“Our nation has stood on the front line for centuries, not only in defence of its land and faith, but in the preservation of its dignity, identity, and freedom. This tradition lives on today in the modern Georgian armed forces, which serve the state and the people with unwavering loyalty. Yet our strength does not reside in arms alone. Our greatest strength lies in sound policy, in unity, and in the capacity to preserve peace. A strong state is built not merely by a strong army, but by wise and responsible governance that foresees threats before they materialise, forges partnerships, strengthens institutions, and creates a safe environment for every single citizen,” Papuashvili declared.
