Speaker Papuashvili: OSCEPA undermines international law, mimicking Russia’s subversion of global order
The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, has declared that the recent resolution by the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly is a textbook example of how disinformation narratives are manufactured.
According to Papuashvili, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly has completely disregarded the core principles of international law.
“Following in the footsteps of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the exact same forces have now mobilised the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. It is plain to see that Joe Wilson and other European anti-Georgian actors are actively involved in concocting these texts. These resolutions represent unadulterated falsehoods and disinformation, systematically disseminated through the machinery of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. This merely reaffirms the grim reality in which we currently find ourselves. Russia is not alone in shattering the rules-based international order; assemblies such as this one are entirely complicit. Specifically, in this instance, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly has completely overridden international law and its foundational tenets. Much like Russia, it has transformed into a force that undermines the very rules-based international order it was meant to uphold,” Shalva Papuashvili stated.
For context, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly recently adopted a critical resolution concerning Georgia, authored by US Congressman Joe Wilson. In response, the Georgian delegation refused to participate in the vote and staged a walkout in protest.
