Speaker Papuashvili highlights major retail chains’ commitment to daily low prices on selected products for consumers

“The conclusion prepared by the Price Commission is not intended to be presented at the plenary session. The process was transparent; all findings and positions were open to discussion,” said Shalva Papuashvili, the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia.

He expressed his satisfaction with the findings.

“Historically, discussions around prices have often been empty words, lacking substance. They have been confined to the prices displayed at the checkout. The commission was able to precisely identify which chains are responsible for setting the prices. All major chains have agreed to compile a list of specific products that will be permanently low-priced. This will not be a promotion that appears once a week, but a definitive list of items. Consumers can then be assured that, when they visit any chain, these products will always be available at the lowest price each day. There will be competition among the chains to offer the lowest prices on this list,” said Papuashvili.
