Speaker: Moral anomaly established by UNM law over

“Moral and human anomaly established by the United National Movement (UNM) law forcing victims of defamation to justify themselves, is over,” wrote Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Facebook.

According to the Speaker, this anti-European norm was defended by Europe-financed NGOs.

“The parliament-endorsed amendments have been enacted. From today, the law will protect a victim of defamation. The moral and human anomaly established by the United National Movement (UNM) law forcing victims of defamation to justify themselves, is over.

The protest of some NGOs demonstrates that this anti-European norm has been defended by Europe-financed NGOs for years,” he said.
