Speaker meets Bulgarian President

The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, met with the President of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev. According to the Parliament’s press service, it was noted at the meeting that the friendly and good-neighborly relations between Georgia and Bulgaria have centuries-old roots.

Shalva Papuashvili expressed gratitude for Bulgaria’s support for Georgia’s territorial integrity, as well as for its valuable contribution to the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia.

The parties discussed bilateral cooperation, including interparliamentary relations. Papuashvili expressed readiness to further deepen ties between the legislative bodies of the two countries.

The meeting highlighted the importance of cooperation and enhanced connectivity between Georgia and Bulgaria as Black Sea states. Papuashvili welcomed Bulgaria’s participation in the Black Sea Submarine Cable Project.

The conversation also touched upon Georgia–EU relations. Papuashvili reaffirmed that Georgia will continue to fulfill the obligations outlined in the Association Agreement. He also underscored Georgia’s role as a Middle Corridor country in strengthening Europe’s energy independence.

The meeting was held within the official visit of Shalva Papuashvili and the parliamentary delegation to Bulgaria, linked to their participation in the General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC).
