Speaker hosts Georgian ambassadors

The Georgian Parliament Speaker, Shalva Papuashvili, hosted Georgian ambassadors in the Parliament during a working session held as part of the 2025 Conference of Ambassadors, the Parliament reported.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili, opened the session.

Shalva Papuashvili expressed gratitude to the ambassadors and embassy staff for their effective support in assisting parliamentary delegations with planning and implementing bilateral visits, as well as participating in events organized on international platforms.

During the session, the Speaker briefed the ambassadors on the legislative activities of the Parliament. He reviewed laws and amendments concerning institutional matters, mechanisms for protecting democracy, the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament, the new Election Code, and labor migration issues. Papuashvili emphasized that the Parliament responds to current events by adopting legislation that complies with the Constitution of Georgia and international human rights standards.

The second part of the session focused on parliamentary diplomacy. Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, discussed both bilateral and multilateral aspects of parliamentary diplomacy, with special attention given to Georgia’s participation in parliamentary assemblies.

The session also highlighted the importance of strengthening ties between parliamentary friendship groups.

At the conclusion of the working session, the Speaker answered questions from the ambassadors.
