Speaker: DW's award to Saakashvili regime's architect reflects misunderstanding of Georgian concerns
“Deutsche Welle awarded a freedom of speech award to one of Saakashvili regime’s main architects, Tamar Kintsurashvili – this is a perfect example of failing to understand Georgian people’s concerns,” Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili posted on social media.
Papuashvili explained that following the fall of Saakashvili’s regime, Kintsurashvili has played a significant role in disseminating fake news and propaganda narratives within the media.
“This situation illustrates how some European organizations remain disconnected from reality and overlook the genuine concerns of the Georgian populace.
Deutsche Welle honoured Tamar Kintsurashvili, one of the key architects of the Saakashvili regime, with a freedom of speech award. From 2005 to 2009, she served as the chief censor of the Public Broadcaster under Saakashvili’s administration and held the position of Deputy Secretary of the Security Council from 2010 to 2013. Since the regime’s defeat, she has been instrumental in perpetuating misinformation and propagandistic narratives in the media,” Papuashvili stated.
