“My congratulations on the 32nd anniversary of the Special State Protection Service. For those of us who benefit from the care and support of the employees of the State Special Protection Service daily, the professionalism, loyalty, and dedication that each employee of the service demonstrates is especially appreciated,” said Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, delivering a speech at the jubilee activity of the Special State Protection Service of Georgia.

According to the Speaker, the Special State Protection Service was one of the first entirely independent state institutions, which was established to defend the country’s constitutional order and security.

Shalva Papuashvili further said that the effective functioning of the Special State Protection Service is an important prerequisite for the country’s security, stability and defence capabilities, and described the employees as “warriors of the invisible front.”

Papuashvili recalled that the Special State Protection Service was established in 1994, during a difficult, tragic, and contradictory period, when many state and security structures were still affected by external influences and interventions.

“This history is an indispensable part of Georgia’s newest history, while the significance of your service is invaluable. Along with the strengthening of Georgia’s statehood, sovereignty, and international role, the responsibility of the Special State Protection Service is increasing. Our region’s security environment, diversity of modern threats and increasing challenges increase your responsibility. Therefore, the effective functioning of the Special State Protection Service is an important prerequisite for the country’s security, stability and defence capabilities,” he said.

President Mikheil Kavelashvili, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Vice Prime Minister/State Minister for Coordination with Law Enforcement Agencies Mamuka Mdinaradze and Head of the Special State Protection Service Anzor Chubinidze participated in the jubilee event.
