Speaker: Attendance of tomorrow’s EU event by those threatening violence on May 26 will reveal who is behind next attempted unrest
“If the same individuals who are inciting violence on May 26 attend the EU event tomorrow, it will provide the answer to our question of who is orchestrating the next attempt at unrest,” said Shalva Papuashvili, the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, in an interview with Georgian journalists in Montenegro.
“The only people whose opinion interests me are a handful of ambassadors, whether or not they are lending their hand to those who are attempting, once again, to announce violence for May 26. We shall see this soon enough. If tomorrow’s EU event is attended by those who announced violence on May 26, that will be the answer to our question about who stands behind the next attempted unrest. I cannot even call these people politicians; they are simply individuals carrying out orders from abroad. When they go to the people, five or seven souls gather around them; but when they go to the ambassadors, they arrive in a well-assembled, fully-formed group. That is precisely their modus operandi: to call upon an ambassador, to visit various foreign capitals, and from there to plan changes of government in Georgia with outside assistance.
Regrettably, this is a recurring thread in Georgia’s history. In the past, they would travel to various capitals to recruit foreign forces to oppose Georgia. It was also during the Soviet era that they would travel to Moscow to have their rivals in Tbilisi removed and to secure advantageous positions for themselves. And it remains so today; only now, Moscow has been replaced by Brussels and other capitals. They go to Brussels to dispose of their competitors. History has always exacted its reckoning from the traitor. This group, too, has had its reckoning delivered by the Georgian people,” Papuashvili stated.
He further maintained that the radical opposition has descended into its death throes.
“Do not attempt to find logic or rationality in their statements. This is simply the death agony into which the radical opposition has sunk. The cause of that agony is their failure to carry out a single one of the tasks they receive from outside: destabilising the country, bringing it down, staging a coup, shedding blood. The October 4 also collapsed around them, when they sought to engineer chaos and bloodshed in Georgia. Now they are receiving stern warnings from their patrons to deliver something. The Georgian people have already given their answer, many times over, to these radical groupings that act against Georgia’s national interests,” declared Shalva Papuashvili.
