“We, the democratic political parties, will fight to the very end to restore power to those it truly belongs to, the Georgian people. Our struggle will continue until victory is achieved,” reads the joint statement issued by Ahali, Girchi-More Freedom, Droa, National-Democratic party, European Georgia, Freedom Square, and Federalists parties.
According to the statement, the Georgian people have, over the past year, demonstrated through their courageous and unwavering resistance that they deserve to live in a fair, safe, and free country. They will not accept any attempt to undermine the Constitution.
“The escalation of political persecution by Ivanishvili’s criminal regime will only strengthen our society’s resolve, especially as political prisoners and their families exemplify resilience and non-reconciliation with evil.
The Georgian Dream presents itself as the guardian of traditional Georgian and family values; yet it operates in a climate tainted by rigged elections and fabricated cases, policies that threaten to divide families, parents and children, spouses and siblings for many years to come. Ivanishvili’s regime has deepened the country’s existing crises: corruption and abuse of office have become normalised, with officials enriching themselves at the expense of citizens. Despite these issues, Georgia continues to drift away from the free world and remains face-to-face with its adversary, Russia, jeopardising our sovereignty and independence.
The regime seeks to manipulate the country’s education, healthcare, and social systems to preserve its grip on power, rather than prioritising the well-being of Georgian citizens. It intensifies administrative control and repression with that aim.
The Georgian Dream aims to seize the state from the people, continuing to plunder our soldiers, teachers, pensioners, children, and students, while evading justice. Yet, despite all its efforts, it has failed to suppress the legitimate protests across society. The regime lacks both public and international legitimacy, and it is morally discredited, standing on a foundation of lies and repression.
Though differences exist among us, our shared goal unites us: to peacefully overthrow this corrupt, oppressive regime; to secure the release of unlawfully detained writers, doctors, students, actors, and politicians; to defend Georgia’s independence and sovereignty; and to reaffirm its rightful place within the Euro-Atlantic community.
The Georgian people, through their bold and steadfast resistance over the past year, have proven that they deserve to live in a just, secure, and free country, and will not accept any attempt to undermine the Constitution. Ivanishvili’s repressive tactics will not break their will.
We, the democratic political parties, vow to fight until the very end, until power is returned to the people of Georgia,” reads the joint statement.
