Sergey Lavrov – With Open Skies Agreement, West wanted to fly on Russia’s territory close to Abkhazia and South Ossetia
With the Open Skies air transport agreement between the European Union (EU) and the United States, the West wanted to fly on the territory of the Russian Federation in proximity to Abkhazia and South Ossetia but Georgia refused to take responsive steps – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said during a video press conference organized by Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund.
According to Lavrov, Russia was ready to go on compromise but Georgia refused checking of air space to be carried out by Russian specialists.
Russian Foreign Minister argued that the U.S. has no reliable facts that Russia violates the agreement. Lavrov said that on the contrary, Russia was ready to regulate the claims if Georgia opened the skies for such flights.
