Sanctioned judges to file lawsuit in U.S. court

A judge member of the High Council of Justice, Dimitri Gvritishvili, on Thursday, voiced that other sanctioned judges would join Irakli Shengelia to file a lawsuit in the relevant US court.

He went on to say that “so far, only Irakli Shengelia has clearly stated that he intends to file a lawsuit. I cannot go into the details, but Irakli Shengelia will not be alone in this dispute”, he stated.

On 5 April, U.S. State Department publicly designated Georgian judges, Mikheil Chinchaladze, Levan Murusidze, Irakli Shengelia, and Valerian Tsertsvadze under Section 7031(c) visa restriction authorities, due to their involvement in significant corruption.
