Standard & Poor’s (S&P) Global Ratings affirmed Georgia’s sovereign credit rating at BB/B’ with Outlook Stable.
“On Aug. 8, 2025, S&P Global Ratings affirmed its ‘BB/B’ long- and short-term sovereign credit ratings on the Government of Georgia. The outlook is stable,” reads the report.
According to the report, Positively, the rating on Georgia benefits from a comparatively strong policy framework;
Georgia’s economy has delivered solid economic growth;
Georgia’s banking system remains profitable, well-capitalized, and maintains strong liquidity buffers. Despite a gradual decline, dollarization in the banking sector remains relatively high.
Considering the stronger-than-expected momentum, S&P Global Ratings revised up its full-year growth forecast to 7.1%. However, it expects growth to decelerate to 5.2% in 2026 and 4.7% in 2027, as consumption normalizes, and investment weakens.
