Russian Deputy FM: Int'l courts lack impartiality, rulings not objective

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Galuzin, who quit the 58th round of the Geneva International Discussions (GID) again while discussing the issue of the return of displaced persons, said that Russia did not consider Abkhazia and Ossetia to be occupied. “These two regions have become independent, free republics, and Russia recognises them as such. It is not a question of who recognises it; these republics recognise their independence.”

“As for court judgements on these issues, international courts have recently demonstrated a lack of impartiality and, sadly, an anti-Russian bias. These judgements are politicised and pro-Western, and we do not see them as objective or appropriate. The judgements concerning Georgia belong to those courts, which we believe are biased,” Galuzin explained.
