Giorgi Zakareishvili appointed Georgia’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan

Giorgi Zakareishvili has been appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

According to the ministry, Zakareishvili has many years of experience working at the central office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in Georgian diplomatic missions.

Since 2021, he has served as Georgia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine and Georgia’s Permanent Representative to GUAM.

From 2016 to 2019, he served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in charge of the Section of Interests of Georgia at the Embassy of Switzerland in the Russian Federation. From 2012 to 2016, he served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary at the Embassy of Georgia in Ukraine and Georgia’s Permanent Representation to GUAM.

At different times, Zakareishvili also served as Director of the Political Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Head of the Division for Relations with Central Asian Countries.

Zakareishvili holds the diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
