Romanian, Polish and Turkish FMs reaffirm Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Georgia and Ukraine
The Romanian, Polish and Turkish Foreign Ministers issued a joint statement following the Trilateral Ministerial in Bucharest, Romania, on April 23.
FMs reaffirmed their support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia and Ukraine and the Euro-Atlantic aspirations of both countries.
“We agreed that further strengthening of NATO’s deterrent and defence position and the political dimension of the Alliance, strengthening resilience and supporting the “open door” policy, as well as the Eastern and Western Balkan partners, remain important. We highlighted NATO’s constant interest in a substantive dialogue with its partners, given that this relationship remains mutually beneficial,” reads the statement.
The statement underscores the importance of inviting the Foreign Ministers of Georgia and Ukraine to the ministerial.
“We reassured our counterparts in Georgia and Ukraine about the undiminished commitment of our countries to provide them with support and assistance. We reaffirm our support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia and Ukraine within their internationally recognized borders and for the Euro-Atlantic aspirations of both states,” the joint statement of the ministers said.
Romania’s capital Bucharest hosted the trilateral meeting of foreign ministers of Turkey, Poland, and Romania. This year, Ukrainian and Georgian Foreign Ministers also participated in one of the panels of the event.
