Romanian Foreign Minister: Romania stopped issuing diplomatic passports, reversing strategic partnership
“Romania expresses concern about the backsliding of democracy in Georgia. Romania does not issue diplomatic passports to Georgia any more, and this is a bilateral decision,” said Oana-Silvia Țoiu, Foreign Minister of Romania.
According to the Romanian FM, the Georgian citizens should “be encouraged to continue supporting the EU path, supporting the resilience of their democracy.”
“In that case, we are supporters of measures, but proportionate measures that can be reversed because we believe in the long-term European path of Georgia,” she said.
Oana-Silvia Țoiu was asked what Romania would decide on the Georgia issue during today’s discussion.
“We are supporters of the reversal of action. In our case, we are reversing the strategic partnership. We will see through the conversation what the result will be,” she said.
