Roads Department releases additional information on Rikoti Pass

Georgian Roads Department reported on Tuesday that regular professional monitoring discovered a possible landslide area along the 147th kilometre of the Tbilisi-Senaki-Leselidze highway.

According to the Department, traffic movement is prohibited for all motor vehicles at the Rikoti Pass for safety reasons. It will be restored when the cleaning is done, and the specialists issue the safety recommendations.

“The land mass fell following the deliberate collapse of the slope’s non-solid mass. Road cleaning operations are in full swing,” the Roads Department informed.

Except for trucks and semi-trailers, all traffic can use the Gomi-Sachkhere-Chiatura-Zestafoni routes.
