Road closures announced around Europe Square from 11–14 September for international Red Bull Soapbox Race
Traffic around Europe Square and adjacent streets will be restricted in phases between 11 and 14 September due to an upcoming international event: the Red Bull Soapbox Race.
According to Tbilisi City Hall, the traffic restrictions will be implemented in two distinct phases:
Phase One (20:00 on 11 September – 22:00 on 12 September): Vehicles will be temporarily restricted along Gvinis Aghmarti (Wine Rise) and Dutu Megreli Street. Additionally, two lanes across Metekhi Bridge heading toward Europe Square will be closed, alongside the outer lane of Europe Square leading up to the start of Noe Zhordania Embankment.
Phase Two (22:00 on 12 September – 03:00 on 14 September): Full closures will be enforced across Europe Square, Metekhi Bridge, Gvinis Aghmarti, Dutu Megreli Street, and the section of Noe Zhordania Embankment directly adjoining Europe Square.
Vehicles travelling from Vakhtang Gorgasali Square will be diverted onto Kote Abkhazi Street. On the right bank of the Mtkvari River, vehicles coming from Gorgasali Street will be permitted to proceed toward Zviad Gamsakhurdia Embankment, as well as from Gorgasali Square onto Kote Abkhazi Street, and from Tumanyan Street toward Gorgasali Street.
Bus and minibus routes ordinarily passing through Europe Square will be re-routed:
Municipal Buses N102, N301, N310, N331, N345 and Minibuses N550, N580 travelling from Gorgasali Street toward Baratashvili Bridge and Baratashvili Street will bypass Metekhi Bridge and Europe Square. Instead, they will route from Gorgasali Street via Kote Abkhazi Street to Freedom Square before proceeding to Baratashvili Street to rejoin their regular routes.
Bus Route N333 heading toward Ketevan Dedofali Avenue will bypass Europe Square from Kosta Khetagurovi Street. It will proceed to Baratashvili Bridge, execute a U-turn on Baratashvili Street, cross back over the bridge to reach Baratashvili Rise, and continue along its standard path.
