“Bulgaria is an important country for Georgia. It is a member of the European Union, and we are connected by the Black Sea and projects focused on connectivity,” Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili said.

She stressed that active political dialogue and economic ties with Bulgaria were very important for Georgia.

“This visit is noteworthy because it was my first opportunity to visit Bulgaria as a foreign minister and hold meetings with my ministerial counterparts. I met with the Deputy Prime Minister and also had brief conversations with the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister.

We agree that it is important to maintain active political dialogue, both bilaterally and in the context of the European Union, and, of course, to develop the practical cooperation that both countries need.

Bulgaria is genuinely interested in strengthening and deepening relations with Georgia, and Georgia shares the same interest in maintaining active political dialogue and economic cooperation with Bulgaria.

Among EU member states, Bulgaria is one of Georgia’s leading trading partners. Therefore, when we talk about practical cooperation, these are the tangible results that accompany cooperation between our two countries,” Bochorishvili said.

The minister noted that the visit took place within the Sofia Economic Forum, organized by the Delphi Economic Forum, which is also planning events in Georgia and closer cooperation with the country in the future.

“During the forum, together with the Bulgarian Foreign Minister, we discussed connectivity, resilience, regional challenges, the challenges facing the Black Sea region and the security environment. The discussions focused on the importance of ties between Georgia and Bulgaria and their role in regional connectivity,” Bochorishvili said.
