Retail Association: Member companies launched identification of products to offer special prices

The Georgian Retail Association released a statement saying its member companies have launched the identification of products of the Consumer Basket, on which special prices will be offered within social responsibility.

The Association reported that it had studied experiences of Greece and France and “developed an appropriate approach that creates the opportunity to achieve tangible results in the short term, before achieving medium and long-term goals.”

“The efficiency of this process depends significantly on all participants in the supply chain. We hope that producers and suppliers will share the retail sector’s approach and, within the framework of social responsibility, will provide the most favorable conditions possible, so that, through joint efforts, it becomes possible to ensure broad access to basic products for the population.

The Retail Association is committed to continuing constructive cooperation both with state institutions and private sector representatives to achieve sustainable and long-term outcomes through joint efforts,” reads the statement.

A temporary parliamentary commission established to examine the pricing structures of food products, medicines, and fuel published its findings on May 1.
