Restoration of Borjomi forest will begin starting October 11 – Tornike Gvazava, Head of National Forestry Agency stated.
According to Gvazava, about 250 hectares will be restored during this autumn-winter season and Caucasus pine trees will be mainly planted across the territory.
A special commission was established one year ago to consider preparation works ahead of the planned restoration activities.
The commission consisted of geologists and representatives from non-governmental organizations who studied the territory hit by the strong fire and made a corresponding project.
About 200 thousand GEL is allocated for restoration works of the forest at the first stage. Locals will be also involved in process of the forest’s restoration.
