Borjomi: Forest fire fighting continues non-stop

Forest fire fighting continues non-stop despite complex terrain in the Borjomi Municipality, with some fire pockets remaining uncontained, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

A mobilization of approximately 1 200 people takes place on the ground. Heavy machinery is used to secure access to the pockets of fire, and drones monitor the operation.

At the instruction of Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, divisions of the MIA, Defense Ministry, Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure and Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture coordinate the fire extinguishing efforts via a special operative headquarters.

The fire broke out on August 19 near Kvabishkevi village in Borjomi Municipality.
