Reconciliation Minister meets with ICRC delegation and Envoy on Missing Persons
The Georgian State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality, Tea Akhvlediani, met with Anne Montavon, Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegation in Georgia, and Agnes Coutou, Envoy on Missing Persons in the Caucasus.
According to the Minister’s Office, Akhvlediani underscored the vital importance of the humanitarian efforts to locate missing persons from the conflicts of the 1990s and the August 2008 Russo-Georgian war, emphasising the need to ensure their sustainability.
“The Minister highlighted the crucial role of the ICRC as a neutral mediator and humanitarian partner in the search for missing persons and supporting their families. The parties reviewed the results of intensive cooperation, including the ongoing transformation of the programme based on the ICRC’s strategic recommendations. Future steps in line with priority areas were identified,” the Office stated.
