Reconciliation Minister meets ambassadors, int'l organizations

Tea Akhvlediani, Minister for Reconciliation and Civil Equality, on Monday met with the Ambassadors accredited in Georgia and representatives of international organizations.

The meeting’s purpose, according to the Ministry’s press office, was to discuss the execution of policies for civil equality, integration, and civil equality as well as past accomplishments and future goals.

Akhvlediani emphasized the value of close, coordinated cooperation with international partners and expressed gratitude for their firm support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders.

The meeting focused on the dire humanitarian situation in the occupied regions of Georgia, the discrimination and other gross violations of fundamental rights facing the locals, especially the ethnic Georgians living in Gali and Akhalgori regions, reads the press statement.

“The international community reaffirmed its unwavering support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within the internationally recognized borders, as well as the implementation of the engagement and reconciliation policy and rebuilding the trust. It is also important to note the U.S. assistance for the execution of the state policy of civic equality and integration within the framework of the USAID program ‘Unity in Diversity,’ Akhvlediani added.

The meeting was held with the USAID and the UNAG support.
