Reception in connection with Georgian pavilion's opening held in Samarkand

A reception was held in connection with the opening of the Georgian pavilion in Samarkand within the framework of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference.

Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maka Botchorishvili opened the reception to the tunes of Georgian polyphonic music.

Addressing the guests, Maka Botchorishvili spoke about Georgia’s rich cultural heritage, the 8,000-year-old tradition of winemaking and the uniqueness of polyphonic music.

She remarked that Georgian wine and polyphonic music were recognized by UNESCO as part of mankind’s cultural heritage and that Georgia was proud of being the cradle of wine.

The FM extended gratitude to her Uzbekistani colleague for support and cordial hospitality and emphasized close friendly relations between Georgia and Uzbekistan.

The Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan is Bakhtiyor Saidov, Uzbekistani government members, UNESCO officials and delegations and diplomats from various countries attended the reception.
