Georgia’s Rail Transport Agency, part of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, has issued its inaugural safety authorization for the management and operation of railway infrastructure.
This authorization has been awarded to the Tbilisi Dry Port company, which is set to begin operations in May.
Under the Railway Safety Rules approved by the Government of Georgia, effective January 1, 2025, all owners of access tracks will be required to obtain safety authorization to manage and operate railway infrastructure.
The Agency continues to accept applications and provide consultations to interested stakeholders.
Erekle Kezherashvili, Director of the Agency, emphasized that granting safety authorization will enhance railway safety and ensure compliance with the requirements outlined in the EU Association Agreement regarding railway transport.
Applications will be accepted until May 1. For further information, visit the Rail Transport Agency’s website.
