“For the first time, here in Belgrade, we have succeeded in bringing together the speakers of parliament from all EU candidate nations for an honest dialogue about the vast common ground we share,” the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk, announced at the Conference of Speakers of Parliaments of EU Candidate Countries in Serbia.

According to him, the shared journey toward EU accession provides a robust foundation for all subsequent international cooperation.

“For the first time, here in Belgrade, we have succeeded in bringing together the speakers of parliament from all EU candidate nations for an honest dialogue about the vast common ground we share. Our journey toward European Union membership lays a robust foundation for our ongoing cooperation, and along this path, we are partners, not rivals.

We must share our successes, learn from our mistakes, and build upon the fruits of our joint efforts, because we all tread the very same path, the path leading to the European Union,” Ruslan Stefanchuk stated.

The forum for speakers of the parliaments of EU candidate countries was held in Belgrade. The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, was among the high-level participants attending the summit.
