Rescue efforts continue in the landslide-hit Shovi resort non-stop, and the area expanded to Ambrolauri, said Racha Governor Papuna Margvelidze.
“The mountains are regularly checked . Three days ago, we flew over the peaks. Geologists and a team from the National Environment Agency are involved in monitoring. We keep meetings with the population, and most importantly, we will continue to support them,” he said.
The death toll in the landslide-ravaged Shovi resort of the Oni Municipality rose to 29 on August 22.
Four people are still missing, and rescue efforts continue at various locations, including the Rioni and Chanchakhi riverbeds. Heavy vehicles, human resources and a team of cynologists are involved in the efforts.
