Public Defender urges immediate access for lawyers to UNM's Khabeishvili and Zodelava

The Public Defender of Georgia urges the State Security Service (SSSG) to promptly facilitate access for lawyers to the defendants, Levan Khabeishvili and Murtaz Zodelava. The Ombudsman stated in a release that they had learned from a public appeal by the lawyers that, for several hours, access to meet with Levan Khabeishvili and Murtaz Zodelava had not been granted.

The statement emphasised that the right to legal defence is guaranteed by Georgian law, and investigative authorities are obliged to ensure that this right is not obstructed.

“We urge the State Security Service to ensure immediate access to the defendants for their lawyers, who are defending their interests,” the statement concluded.
