Public Defender hopes for preventive steps to be taken to avoid violence on July 5
The Constitution of Georgia guarantees the right of peaceful assembly to pride participants and organizers. The state must protect their safety, the right of every citizen to assemble and express their views, Georgian Public Defender Nino Lomjaria said.
The ombudsperson expressed hope that the authorities will take preventive measures for the rights of all citizens to be protected.
Pride Week is planned in Tbilisi for July 1-5.
