Protesters verbally, physically assault TV Imedi, POSTV film crews

The protesters at the Government Chancellery verbally and physically assaulted TV Imedi and POSTV film crews, impeding their professional activities.

Anuki Chkhikvadze, a TV Imedi journalist, said that demonstrators threw numerous things at them.

“Imedi journalists are having difficulty working here for the third consecutive day. These people act aggressively towards us. They followed us for a few minutes ago and hurled various items at us.

Activists violently attacked the POSTV cameraman, but the police defused the tension.

Recently, the situation became very heated. Despite the police call, protestors were still attempting to break the barricade. The police assisted us in leaving the area,” Chkhikvadze stated.

The rally against the Draft Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence has been underway for the third day. The Georgian parliament approved it with the first reading at Wednesday’s plenary sitting.
