Prosecutor’s Office indicts Olympic champion Zurab Zviadauri

The Georgian Prosecutor’s Office has formally indicted Zurab Zviadauri [Olympic champion, judoka] on charges of illegal purchase, possession, and carrying of firearms and ammunition, the agency reported.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, an investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that the defendant unlawfully purchased a 9x29mm (.38 Special) Webley Scott Ltd revolver, serial number 56577, along with six factory-made 9×29 calibre cartridges intended for it. He is also accused of illegal storage and carrying of these weapons.

“Law enforcement officers arrested the accused on September 16, 2025. He has been charged under Article 236, Parts 3 and 4 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (illegal acquisition, storage, and carrying of firearms and ammunition), which carries a sentence of four to seven years’ imprisonment,” the Prosecutor’s Office stated.

“The Prosecutor’s Office will submit a request to the Tbilisi City Court within the statutory timeframe for the imposition of a preventive measure of imprisonment on the accused,” the agency added.
