Prosecutor’s Office charges Droa's Elene Khoshtaria with property damage
The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has charged politician Elene Khoshtaria, the leader of the Droa opposition party, with intentional damage to property, following an investigation by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“On September 14, Elene Khoshtaria damaged three banners placed at the election headquarters of the ruling party, Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia, in Tbilisi, causing property damage estimated at 570 GEL.
Law enforcement officers detained her on September 15. She has been charged under Part 1 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which covers damage to another person’s property resulting in significant loss and carries a sentence of one to five years in prison,” the Prosecutor’s Office stated.
The agency said it will appeal to the court for the application of a preventive measure within the timeframe established by law.
