Prosecutor General: I have no intention of resigning
The Prosecutor General of Georgia, Giorgi Gvarakidze, has firmly stated that he has no intention of resigning from his post.
Gvarakidze commented in response to a journalist’s question regarding the appointment of Kakha Muradashvili as his First Deputy.
Gvarakidze clarified that if a Prosecutor General is unable to perform their duties for various reasons, the First Deputy steps in to fulfil those responsibilities.
“If that is what you are referring to, then yes, that is how the procedure works, but I certainly have no intention of stepping down. Why are you asking me this? You are asking an irrelevant question. Where on earth did you get the idea that I intend to resign, leave, or move to another position?
I have always had a First Deputy. If I am no longer the Prosecutor General, the First Deputy steps in as acting head until a new Prosecutor General is elected,” Giorgi Gvarakidze noted.
