Procedural Committee backs MP mandates termination to Labor Party leader, UNM member

The parliamentary Procedural Issues and Rules Committee backed termination of MP mandates to Shalva Natelashvili, Labor Party Leader, and Levan Khabeishvili, a member of the United National Movement (UNM) Party.

Chairman Irakli Kadagishvili said the committee confirmed the authenticity of the applications submitted by the two opposition politicians.

The Procedural Issues and Rules Committee will present its conclusion to the plenary session on February 2. The fate of the other 49 opposition politicians, who applied to the parliament with the same request to suspend their MP authority, will be decided the same day. The issue needs the support of 76 lawmakers.

Labor Party leader Shalva Natelashvili and UNM member Levan Khabeishvili were first to submit their applications. The Procedural Issues and Rules Committee will discuss the applications of 49 opposition members on January 28.
