Prime Minister: Together we have created a solid foundation for stronger relationships that gives us great hope of deepening integration
Both sides recognize that after the last meeting of EU-Georgia Association Council the greatest progress is observed in EU-Georgia relations. The most important results have been achieved – first of all, it is a visa-free travel for Georgian citizens, – the Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili stated after the meeting of the EU-Georgia Association Council.
As Giorgi Kvirikashvili noted Georgia is implementing the Association Agreement in almost all fields of cooperation, approaches the EU legislative and institutional standards.
“In November we have received a long list of EU-Georgia Association Agenda Priorities, which will provide political association and economic integration for 2020. Georgia is implementing a gradual integration into the EU internal market. The implementation of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement provided the local and international businesses with new opportunities. Today the EU is our biggest trade partner”, – Prime Minister said.
According to him, Georgia develops compatibility of institutions with EU standards, establishes European practice in various spheres through integration into EU institutions and programs.
Georgia appreciates the EU’s strong support toward Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within the internationally recognized borders.
“Georgia appreciates the active support of the European Union, which is expressed in continuation of the observation mission activities, in serving as a mediator of Geneva international negotiations as well as supporting through the non-recognition and engagement policy, contributing to stability on the ground. In its turn, Georgia is a strategic partner and faithful ally of the European Union and is ready to make a great contribution to the worldwide peace and stability. Together we have created a solid foundation for stronger relationships that gives us great hope of deepening integration”, – said the Prime Minister.
