President Zourabichvili joins protest at Rustaveli Avenue

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili joined the protest going on at Rustaveli Avenue, in front of the parliament building.

Protest patcicipants welcomed and applauded to her. Salome Zourabichvili walked to the Orbeliani Presidential Palace.

“I have said everything and now going to work,” she told reporters.

The Electoral Assembly today will elect Georgia’s Sixth President through non-direct rule for the first time. The Georgian Dream (GD) party nominated and endorsed the candidacy of Mikheil Kavelashvili on the position.

A protest rally is going on at the Georgian parliament in parallel to the presidential elections. The protesters say that the presidential elections is illegitimate, since the parliament is illegitimate.
