President Kavelashvili's visit to Armenia marks historic milestone in Georgia-Armenia relations

Giorgi Sharvashidze, the Georgian Ambassador to Armenia, emphasized the significance of President Mikheil Kavelashvili’s visit to Armenia, noting that the two countries’ relations have reached a historic peak. He mentioned that the work agenda for the visit would be particularly busy.

During his time in Armenia, President Kavelashvili is scheduled to meet with his Armenian counterpart, the Prime Minister, and various government representatives.

Sharvashidze highlighted the importance of the visit, stating that the discussions will address matters critical not only for Georgia and Armenia but also for the entire region.

“This visit is of great significance; it is President Kavelashvili’s first official visit to Armenia. Planned meetings include discussions with President Khachaturian, the Prime Minister, and several ministers. The agenda is quite full. The importance of this visit cannot be overstated, especially as our relations have reached an unprecedented level,” stated Giorgi Sharvashidze.

He went on to highlight the strategic relations established last year between Armenia and Georgia, which included the signing of a memorandum. Economic ties and tourism connections are rapidly developing, revealing many common interests. Soon, the Days of Georgian Culture will be celebrated in Armenia, along with various initiatives, including Georgia’s peace initiative promoting a peaceful Caucasus.

“There are numerous topics that will be discussed, pertinent not only to Georgia and Armenia but also to the entire region,” added Sharvashidze.

President Mikheil Kavelashvili, accompanied by a delegation, will officially visit Armenia’s capital today.

The Georgian delegation includes Ketevan Kvinikadze, Head of the Presidential Administration; Lasha Darsalia, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; Giorgi Volski, First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament; MPs Samvel Manukian and Sumbat Kyureghiani; and Presidential Advisor on Foreign Relations Luka Ekhvaia.
