President Kavelashvili sees diaspora representatives as Georgian ambassadors

“The role of our diaspora representatives and fellow citizens is vital. They are ambassadors who can effectively promote our country in any society,” stated President Mikheil Kavelashvili during the Diaspora Day forum.

Drawing from his own experience as a diaspora representative for 18 years, Kavelashvili expressed his understanding of the challenges faced by those living abroad. He commended individuals who dedicated themselves to promoting Georgia’s culture, history, language, and identity in other countries.

“I understand these difficulties well, but we are a resilient nation, endowed with the strength to showcase our wealth wherever our compatriots reside,” he affirmed.

Kavelashvili also highlighted the crucial role of the Georgian Orthodox Church in fostering relations with the diaspora. He expressed gratitude to His Holiness and Beatitude, the Catholicos-Patriarch, for the decision of the Holy Synod to permit Georgian citizens to pray in Orthodox churches across different countries. He pledged his readiness to strengthen and deepen these relations further.

The President extended his appreciation to the Foreign Ministry and the government for prioritizing issues related to diaspora relations.

“Wherever we are, our homeland is always with us. Especially when we are abroad, we carry our love for Georgia in our hearts. We cherish our homeland deeply, recognizing the rich heritage and the significance of being Georgian,” he concluded.
