President Kavelashvili: Our nation stands independent, sovereign, and proud today thanks to our ancestors and our heroic military
“Congratulations on the launch of Army Camp 2026. This is a truly unique project; now in its fourth year, it has already welcomed hundreds of young people, and its impact is genuinely magnificent,” stated the President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, during his address at the opening ceremony of the Army Camp 2026.
“I would like to extend my gratitude to everyone who created this project. My thanks also go to our military instructors, teachers, and clergy members who are here at the camp with you, imparting their knowledge. This is a genuinely remarkable opportunity for you to connect with invaluable insights that will stay with you for the rest of your lives. I was fortunate enough to attend the camp’s opening last year as well and meet the young participants. Their impressions and emotions were truly unforgettable; the days spent here will stay with them a lifetime,” noted Kavelashvili.
The President went on to emphasise that the country owes its independence, sovereignty, and dignity to the legacy of its ancestors and its heroic military.
“Our homeland unites us. The fact that we live in this beautiful country today, speak the Georgian language, practice our Christian faith, and possess such a unique culture and traditions is entirely due to our ancestors, our historical figures, and, above all, our heroic military. It is thanks to them that our country stands independent, sovereign, and proud today.
This reality was hard-won through the immense sacrifice and extraordinary efforts of previous generations; we have no right to do anything less than serve our nation with that very same devotion. You have unique opportunities ahead of you to excel in your chosen fields. At your age, most of you have likely already decided on your future career paths. But believe me, it is through the core values that unite us- homeland, language, faith, God, humanity, country, the sanctity of family, and our unique culture and traditions that you must become successful Georgian patriots.
This is a unique moment in our history. Trust me, since the restoration of our independence, Georgia has never been as strong or as developed as it is today, yet this is only the beginning. We represent Georgia today. Each of us may hold differing views, but we all bear a personal responsibility to our homeland. Therefore, we must do everything in our power to succeed and to make our nation even stronger.
Fortunately, we have individuals who have excelled across various professions, and we can learn a great deal from them. Everyone knows Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, for instance, who is not only a successful footballer but an exceptional individual, deeply imbued with the very values our ancestors defended. We, too, must be driven by these values to achieve success in our respective professions. That is our ultimate goal: to build a stronger state,” Mikheil Kavelashvili concluded.
