President Kavelashvili: Didgori is an exemplary benchmark for how a dignified nation should conduct its affairs

“Didgori lives in our collective memory not merely as one of our most glorious military triumphs; August 12, 1121, marks the logical culmination of long-standing preparation, matchless intellect, and iron discipline,” declared President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili during his address at the Didgoroba celebration.

As the President noted, Didgori was no historical accident, but the fruit of farsighted planning and statecraft whose foundations had been laid years prior.

“Didgori is first and foremost overcoming the weaknesses of self and character. It stands as an exemplary benchmark for how a dignified nation should conduct its politics and public life so that a country may surpass itself and achieve victories of historical magnitude.

Today, in the 21st century, this is precisely the path we must walk; a path that demands unceasing vigilance, inner fortitude, and pragmatic thinking, so that Georgia may at last be reunited, standing strong and truly sovereign!

History teaches us that securing great victory requires strategic patience, unwavering faith in the future, and constant readiness. Wisdom and vigilance- these must become the rhythm of our daily lives, and it is in accordance with these principles that every state reform must be conceived, planned, and implemented.

We cannot reach our own Didgori any other way! We require daily endeavour, untiring toil, and the forging of our own character. We must seek both spiritual and material sustenance not merely in the attainment of results, but in the very process of daily struggle and continuous development. As the great Ilia left us in his testament: ‘Movement and movement alone, my Tergi, gives a nation its strength and life!’

Today, standing upon this sacred ground, we bow our heads in memory of the architect of Didgori, Holy King David IV the Builder, and those heroic ancestors who, through their own blood, forged that Miraculous Victory. I am firm in my belief that through our unity, strategic wisdom, and labour, Georgia will inevitably achieve its own Didgori, a united, peaceful, and powerful Georgia! May God bless our homeland,” Kavelashvili stated.
